Raymond’s Rundown – August 1

It is hard to believe it has already been a year since I took over as pastor. I cannot begin to express how blessed I have been to be a part of our church, and I think the best is still yet to come!

With summer winding down we have seen our attendance picking back up, something I expect to continue over the coming months. We were blessed to have some great guest speakers over the past couple weeks as Bro. Jimmy Neely and our own Blake Buckner filled in for me July 21, and Doot Greenwood returned to his home church to deliver a great message for our Homecoming service this past Sunday. What a blessing it was to see all of Newton Jordan’s family in attendance for this service, particularly Ms. Ina.

It seems the enthusiasm and participation in the Bible Reading Plan has waned in recent months. If this applies to you then I encourage you to get back on the bicycle and keep riding – it is worth the effort. I would also like to share a new tool to assist this process: on the Bible Reading Plan page on mtnebofred.com is a list of sermons to go along with the reading that you can click and listen to which would be a great way to catch up for those who are behind or beginning late. For those who do not have access to the internet I would be more than happy to put these sermons on CD format.

We have even more on the agenda for August! This Sunday we will observe Lord’s Supper as well as have guest singer Mary Brod bringing special music. August 11 we will baptize Collin Stanley in the morning, then for evening service we will head to First Baptist Buna for a great presentation on Answers in Genesis.

Please also note that I have deemed the August 7 business meeting as mandatory: all church members need to be in attendance at this crucial meeting where many changes are expected to be voted on. Please make every effort to be there Wednesday at 6:00 pm.

Thank you for a wonderful first year! Let’s keep working to make the second an even better one!

God Bless

Bro. Raymond
