We had so much going on during the end of March/first of April that I failed to post one of these last month so this will have to be a two-for-one special.
High Attendance Sunday
We ended the month of March with a very special Easter service where we observed the Lord’s Supper and enjoyed our highest attendance of the year. After setting a new high for Sunday School attendance on March 17, we shattered that mark on April 7 with our High Attendance Day promotion, which resulted in yours truly receiving a face full of whipped cream. Another important goal was reached as we surpassed our Annie Armstrong mission fundraising goal by $75.
At our April Business Meeting we voted to increase the frequency with which we take the Lord’s Supper, electing to observe it the first Sunday of every month rather than on a quarterly basis. We were also blessed to welcome Nellie Carruth to our fellowship on April 14.
I have also been excited about the activity we have been experiencing on our social media sites. Our website is progressively receiving more hits every month and our Twitter account is closing in on 900 followers and should break 1,000 by June. Sadly, April ended with a dark cloud after the news of the tragedies at the Boston Marathon and the West, Texas plant explosion, followed by the Exxon fire in Beaumont which took the life of a Warren resident. These were followed by a car wreck which robbed our community of one of its fine young men. Please continue to keep the Creekmore and Jones families in your prayers.
Things are not slowing down at Mount Nebo! We will have Communion this Sunday morning, a guest speaker from the Gideons is coming May 19, and church camp and Vacation Bible School are just around the corner. Do not miss out on what God is doing!
