What to Expect

We would like all of our visitors to feel right at home at Mt Nebo. Here is an outline of how the usual Sunday Morning Service flows:

Our pews are ready, and waiting for YOU!

Our pews are ready, and waiting for YOU!

Opening Remarks – Service begins at 11 AM with the singing of a hymn followed by announcements, prayer requests, and an invocation (opening prayer).

Congregational Singing – The Music Director leads the congregation in the singing of hymns.

Offertory Hymn – The Music Director leads the congregation in a hymn which is followed by the giving of tithes and offerings.

Special Music (if any)

Children’s Church – Children 5th grade and under are welcome to go to our Fellowship Hall to receive a lesson geared more toward their level of education and attention.

Nursery – We also have a nursery where parents can leave their infants and toddlers, or stay with them and watch the service through a live television feed.

Sermon

Invitation – After the sermon a time of invitation is offered for prayer and reflection. Unlike most Baptist churches, instead of a congregational hymn, a song is played so that the words of the sermon can resonate and marinate in their minds before leaving the church. This is also the appropriate time to meet with the pastor to discuss accepting Christ as Savior or joining our church.

Lord’s Supper – On the fifth Sunday of the month (quarterly) we observe the Lord’s Supper to remember the sacrifice Jesus made of breaking His body and shedding His blood for the remission of our sins. This is done at the end of the service so participants have the entire service to clear the air of unrepented sins so they can approach the table with a clear conscience.

Benediction

Fellowship Meal – At the conclusion of the services in which we hold communion, afterward we have a meal together in the fellowship hall. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!

While we tend to usually stick to this order of events they are certainly not set in stone. We try to stay flexible enough so as not to sanction out the stirring of the Holy Spirit. Testimonies, praise reports, or other things you would like to share with the church are certainly welcome!

Our evening service tends to follow the same format with a few minor exceptions:

There is no offering or Children’s Church.

The songs for the Congregational Singing are chosen by the congregation.

We hope that you will join us this Sunday!
